J’adore Tresor are absolutely mad about all things shiny, sparkly and glittering, and it’s that magpie-like addiction that made us so hysterically excited to see that the SS13 catwalks were overflowing with shiny, futuristic, Sci-fi inspired metallics! Burberry were the leaders with this season’s craving for all things reflective with an array of capes, dresses and swimwear, followed swiftly by Christian Dior, Viktor & Rolf and many others. It is no wonder that on the Oscar’s red carpet this year celebrities such as Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Hudson, Naomi Watts were all stepping out in monochrome metallic gowns for added glitz to the glamourous event.
These pieces aren’t designed to be understated or subtle in any way, there is no room for delicate matte, it’s all about foiled fabrics, oil slick leathers and iridescent fabrics echoing the futuristic aesthetic of the nineteen fifties Sci-fi era. There is a danger of everything looking the same, and gold fabric has certainly been popular for a while, a popular solution to this has been pastel metallics. An array of unusually tainted blues, pinks, greens and yellows have brought new definition to modernism in fashion, the look is softened twice-over by the likes of Dior in the form of layering sophisticated stripes and feminine florals. However, one must beware that this look is not for the yellow bellied! Although metallic pieces can go with almost anything, there is a real knack to be learned about keeping things calm and spacious. Don’t overcrowd this already strong statement look, here are some tips to rock a metallic skirt of trousers without looking like an oversized quality street wrapper: When you have a large reflective piece on, wearing all white can really tie it together, white shoes top and accessories can really accentuate the cutting edge look, with the reflective skirt or trousers as the main feature. Varying shades of grey (no pun intended) are also a solution to a reflective skirt, and will also smarten the look up, making it a stylish office-friendly outfit!
Monochrome stripes can make a colourless outfit exciting, a mix of textures and print will make metallics a much less rigid style as one would originally think. Whether your style is minimalist or bold, metallic colour turns every piece into a glittering style statement. The new additions to the Tresor Paris Neptune collections fit perfectly into the trend. With subtle contrasts in textures and tone, the gold or white crystal, polished stainless steel necklace are a perfect metallic accent that will coordinate your outfit without overstepping the mark. There is also a great selection of frosted and polished stainless steel bracelet, coming in yellow, rose gold, brown, and blue, you won’t have to try so hard to find a perfect match for your look. Whether its mirror-shine, brocade or pastel metallics this flirty feminine style is bound to help you shine on like the crazy diamond that of course you all are!!
