Today J’adore Tresor have dedicate Wednesday Worship to this year’s undeniable up and coming superstar Rita Ora. From singing in clubs and bars in London as an unknown in 2009, Rita has climbed the slippery slope that is stardom and come out as one of the most talked about singers in 2013.
Having visited four different countries in the past 10 days alone, the paparazzi must be run ragged trying to keep up with her ultra-glamourous, jet-set lifestyle. A notorious party girl, Rita continues to astound onlookers as she has the energy to sing, booze and red carpet her way through a day as if it were no big thing. Her and best bud/wifey Cara Delevingne have been spotted larking around in just about every glamourous spot on Planet Pop, always giving the impression of being the most magnetic people in the room. Ora certainly seemed to be making the most of a brief break in her schedule as she partied and soaked up the sun on holiday in Ibiza on Friday whilst visiting new squeeze DJ Calvin Harris.
Ora took two years to finish her first studio album, but it was certainly worth all the time, effort and preparation; An incredible A-list featured on her debut, will.i.am, Ester Dean, Drake, The-Dream, Kanye West and Stargate all worked with the young singer on the album, titled Ora and released in 2012. In the past year she has unleashed three number ones; RIP, How We Do (Party) and Hot right Now (with dj fresh), have been acclaimed internationally. She supported Coldplay, starred in the new Fast and Furious film, become the new face of Madonna’s fashion label, and has generally become international It girl of 2013!!
It’s often said that fashion and music go hand in hand, and Rita Ora’s unusual fusion of street style and red carpet glamour makes her the perfect trendsetter/clotheshorse for fashion designers and magazines. Rita has pointed a manicured nail towards a very eclectic mix of style idols; She named Gwen Stefani as an early influence, sparking her addiction to the blonde waves, bright red lipstick, crop tops and general nineties Ska Queen style that defines her look. The star told Elle magazine, “I’m still very much in a Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe mixed with Madonna kind of phase”, how very fitting, since Madonna herself has just chosen Rita to be the new face of her fashion label Material Girl. Past campaigns have often featured girls with musical backgrounds, Kelly Osbourne and Georgia May Jagger to name but a few, so it makes sense that this boisterous fresh star has been chosen to represent the label.
At Glastonbury this year she graced the stage and performed in front of thousands so it was important for her to look at her absolute best. While she donned stylish figure-hugging dresses by designers such as Stella McCartney, Rita kept it real with her accessories and wore a more reasonably priced necklace- the purple and gold Fang necklace from the Pre-Autumn/Winter 2013 collection DJ by Dominic Jones. One thing you can always rely on with Rita is the gold bling, her wrists and fingers are always laden with chunky statement jewellery that fuses her street style with her glamourous evening wear.
